Coronavirus Update – What To Expect

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT RED HAIR SALONS IN RYE, BATTLE & HASTINGS

We  want to reassure you that we are taking our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously.  We have a firm focus on keeping you and our team safe and well.  With that in mind, we would like to give you an idea of what to expect when you next visit.

As you can imagine, these guidelines are regularly being updated by the Government so please rest assured that we also update our procedures at the same time.  There are some new rules we need to make you aware of.  These are:

Food & Drink

Hot or cold drinks can be served to clients as long as they are provided in disposable cups or bottles. Food is NOT allowed to be consumed in a hair salon or barbershop and clients are only allowed to remove their face mask or covering to take sips of their drink.

Track & Trace

Taking part in the NHS Track & Trace will be mandatory from 18th September 2020 which is why we have to keep a record of all our clients.  When you visit, please help us by providing your name and contact phone number.

THE 'NEW NORMAL' AT RED HAIR SALONS

Rest assured the team at Red Hair has undergone training so we are all up-to-date on social distancing and hygiene requirements.  We have also carried out risk assessments in all three salons and mapped out the client journey.

We will have fewer clients who we ask to observe social distancing while enjoying an end to end service at the hands of one stylist.

After pre-booking your appointment, you will be offered a video consultation where we can discuss your hair needs, and remind you of the new rules regarding social distancing in our salon.  We may even ask you to sign an online document agreeing to the new social distancing rules within our salons.

Upon arrival for your appointment, you will wait at our roped-off area for your stylist to welcome you in.  Don't worry, the salon will NOT be full of clients as there will never be more than two stylists in our Rye and Battle salons and four in our Hastings salon. We've even added black and yellow tape to the floor so you know which areas are a 'no-go'.

You will be asked to use the hand sanitiser before being shown to a table to pick up your very own special pack containing a clean towel, a mask, gloves and a gown. We are NOT charging extra for PPE items.

As we are trying to avoid too much person to person contact, you will be invited to take off your coat and pop it on a peg next to your freshly sanitised styling station (with a divider between each station for further protection).

If you wish, you can sanitise your hands again using the bottle that is conveniently placed at your styling station. You can then put on your gown, gloves and mask and put the towel around your shoulders.

Then it's off to the wash area where your stylist, wearing clean gloves, a visor, and an apron, will wash your hair.  A fresh towel will be wrapped around your hair and you will return to your styling station for your service.

We will not be offering refreshments but you are welcome to bring in your own drinks (no alcohol please).  We will also no longer have magazines available in salon but you can always use your kindle, tablet or phone for entertainment.

We also ask that clients come for their appointments alone.  Carers may, of course, accompany their children or dependents for appointments and can use our sanitised waiting areas (where the seats will be 2 metres apart).

At the end of your appointment, we are sure you will be thrilled with your hair (those pesky roots will no longer be showing!)  You will be asked to pay at our sanitised till area, preferably by card (but we will also accept cash as your stylist will be wearing freshly applied gloves).

You will be invited to remove your PPE and put it in the pedal bin before putting your coat back on and leaving the salon.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO KEEP YOU SAFE DURING YOUR VISIT

  • All towels, gowns, aprons and washable masks will be washed at 60 degrees between use.
  • We have invested in lots of PPE including washable face masks, visors, gloves, gowns, towels and aprons. This is free of charge for our clients.
  • Every client will receive a fresh PPE kit every time they visit (free of charge).
  • All our staff will have their temperatures tested daily and this will be noted down in a book
  • Staff understand they MUST self isolate if they experience any Coronavirus symptoms.
  • Clients experiencing Coronavirus symptoms should remain at home. We reserve the right to check a client's temperature at any time.
  • You will always be 2 metres from other clients (and staff NOT working on your hair).
  • Only staff, wearing gloves, will touch retail products and use them on your hair.
  • We expect clients to come to the salon alone unless the appointment is for a child or someone who requires a carer.
  • Hair colour skin testing must be carried out 48 hours before your appointment. You will be shown to a separate area of the salon and given instructions on how to do this quick & easy test yourself.
  • All staff are certified in the use of Barbicide disinfectant to show we are a 'Safe Service Establishment' (see below).
  • All our styling chairs have new covers which will be regularly washed at 60 degrees and/or disinfected.
  • We will provide screens between styling stations and on our front desk.
  • We have added hazard tape to the floor to help everyone maintain a safe distance.
  • All stylists will have two sets of styling tools so we always have a freshly disinfected comb, brush etc for every client.
  • We will have a dedicated person regularly disinfecting key areas such as door handles, styling stations, reception, till and toilet areas.
  • We have pedal bins which can be used to throw away your PPE after use.
  • There will be hand sanitiser throughout the salons which you will be encouraged to use.
  • The toilet areas will contain soap, sanitiser, a box of tissues (rather than toilet roll) and will be regularly disinfected.
  • Posters will be displayed so you fully understand the steps taken to safeguard you and our team.
