Red Hair Salons – Supporting Local Charities in East Sussex
The team at Red Hair Salons in Battle, Rye & Hastings are very much a part of the local community, offering the best hair services and products to men, women and children, while also supporting some great charities in East Sussex.
We are proud to be supporting Xtrax, The Little Princess Trust, Dragonflies and Hastings United Under 11’s Youth Football Club.
The team at Red Hair Salons in Hastings, Rye and Battle are proud to be able to support Xtrax – starting with Nesrin’s amazing Hastings Marathon run which raised £1,500 for this local well-deserving charity.
Xtrax is an award-winning charity helping young people overcome the challenges of life so they can flourish as young adults.
Whatever the issue, whether it is finding a roof over your head, help with finding the right education or training course, sorting out bills or simply having a chat because life’s becoming a bit overwhelming, Xtrax is there to help young people aged 16-24. Find out more.
The Little Princess Trust
The Little Princess Trust is a fantastic charity that works to supply real hair wigs to children undergoing cancer treatment, suffering from alopecia and other illnesses and diseases which cause them to lose their hair.
They offer an often much-needed confidence boost to the kids that need it the most!
It is for this reason that Red Hair Salons are delighted to be able to support The Little Princess Trust by sending them hair that has been kindly donated by you, our wonderful clients and patrons of Red Hair!
The Little Princess Trust has the following guidelines for acceptable hair donations:
Suitable Hair for Wigs
- Clean, dry hair in good condition (no split ends) from any gender and of any natural colour
- Straight, wavy, curly, permed or chemically straightened hair
- Containing the occasional grey (less than 10%)
- Dyed, bleached/highlighted (any dyes must be of a natural colour)
- Plaits/ponytails, cut a long time ago, preserved in good condition.
Unsuitable Hair for Wigs
- Hair that is less than 7″/17cm in length
- Hair dyed an unnatural colour (blue, green, purple for example)
- Largely/mostly grey hair
- Afro hair (the wig-maker is not a specialist manufacturer of Afro wigs. The Trust buys in these wigs separately)
- Hair extensions.
When we ran a facebook poll asking our clients who should receive the giant plus Father Christmas (kindly donated by Simon Quinn), you wanted to bring a little cheer into the lives of children and young people experiencing bereavement.
We were delighted to help and donated the jolly red fellow to Dragonflies, part of the FSN local charity which supports children and young people who may be in need of a little help.
Along with four nurseries and several community projects which support children and families, specialist projects such as Dragonflies help children and young people who are experiencing bereavement and the loss of someone close to them.
Dragonflies offer a safe place for parents/carers and children to express their grief and to share ways of coping with their loss. They offer peer group support with therapeutic activities for children and young people age 5-18, helping them to express their feelings about their loss and enabling them to meet with others who are in similar circumstances.
Family events and organised trips are arranged as further support for local bereaved children, young people and their families.
As with many charitable organisations, Dragonflies and FSN rely greatly on the generosity of others, so we are pleased to be able to help them in whatever ways we can.
